Simpson Park has the best small climbing frame for young toddlers. We had a great time climbing up the steps, walking across the wobbly bridge and then playing with the musical pipes. There’s also a very cool snake swing and a larger climbing frame for older children. The best postcode is MK6 3AY. The park is located on Simpson Drive which just off the H9 Groveway in Milton Keynes. There is a car park.

Wind in the Willows park in Great Holm, Milton Keynes. There’s a good range of wooden play equipment including a car, house, big swing and tunnel. We love the carved characters which include toad, badger and ratty. It is a park you can spend some time at. Be considerate where you park. It’s in Petworth in Great Holm. If you put the street name into your GPS then you’ll come down Holyrood then you need to turn left and you’ll see the entrance to the park. Alternatively the closest postcode we’ve found is MK8 9DH. Wind in the Willows park in Great Holm, Milton Keynes it’s a themed park based around the characters from the story. You walk through a wooden entrance way to discover lots of fun wooden play equipment. Maya absolutely loved the small climbing frame with the pulley. In fact she spent most of her time at the park lifting the bucket up and putting it down again. There’s also a wobbly boat which I know is a favourite with toddlers and a car which has a steering wheel. There’s a big swing, baby swings and a small tunnel as well as a small wooden assault course with different level steps.
Stanton Low Park is the best new park in Milton Keynes. In fact I’m going to stick my neck on the line and say this is one of the best parks in MK all together. Why? Well it’s big, beautiful and has equipment for a variety of ages. It’s definitely worth going out of your way to if you live on the other side of the city. There’s a fun zip-line. I know it’s fun, because I tried it out for you. My boys are too small to go on it at the moment so of course I had to check it out. There are some good wooden houses which are great for little ones as well as a tunnel and slide. There are baby swings and big swings. There are balance beams and a big rock sculpture thing
We visited Woburn for the second time this year. We were lucky enough to experience a really good self-drive safari first thing and saw many animals that we hadn’t see last time. During the safari we got up close to elephants, giraffes, rhinos, lions, tigers, bears and wolves as well as some of the cattle and deer. The weather was great, not too hot which meant that many of the animals were out having fun. In particular, the bears, wolves, elephants, rhinos and giraffes. After our initial safari we then parked up and walked around the foot-safari and thanks to the leaflet with all the times on were able to see the penguins being fed, listen to the spider monkey talk and see the lemurs in full swing. We didn’t have time for many of the activities or shows and could easily have spent another day here. We enjoyed the Red Panda, the indoor play area, the swan boats and of course the gift shop!
There are 17 species of penguin and the King Penguin is the second largest, weighing up to 18kg. The largest is the Emperor Penguin, which can weigh 45kg and the smallest is the Little Penguin which weighs 2kg. Distribution: South Georgia Island to Tierra del Fuego. Diet: Fresh whole Herring, plus vitamins and salt. Breeding: The King Penguin incubates a single egg on their feet. As with most penguin species they are brooded by both male and female, with incubation lasting from 33-64 days. Newly hatched chicks are covered with fine down and continue to be cared for by both parents until they are big enough and able to keep themselves warm. Food is provided by both parents in the form of regurgitated fish, squid or krill. The chicks of most species will moult into their adult plumage and fledge at between 2 and 5 months, however King Penguin chicks take up to 16 months. Status in the wild: This is one of the few penguin species whose numbers are steady and on some islands are on the increase. Penguins are fascinating, funny and entertaining, and as well as Humboldts, Birdland is also home to England’s only collection of King Penguins. In the wild there are 17 species of penguin, which is a group of flightless birds designed for speed in water rather than the air. Above and Below the Water Our window in the water shows how our penguins’ much loved waddling turns into power and elegance once they are underwater and truly in their element …. Less than 10,000 birds means the Humboldt penguin is one of the rarest of the 17 species of penguin. All the Humboldt Penguins at Birdland are captive bred. Distribution: Coasts and islands of Peru and Chile. Diet: Fresh whole Sprats, plus vitamins and salt. Breeding: Two white eggs are laid underground in the wild, or in a nestbox in captivity, and incubation is 39 days, with both parents rearing the chicks. Status in the wild: Less than 10,000 birds means the Humboldt is one of the rarest of the 17 species of penguin. Major threats are over-fishing and pollution.

There are two fun outdoor play areas in Brooklands Meadow Park, each different in design to cater for younger and older children, they are very popular in the summer months. The park is well used by local residents with a rapidly increasing catchment area. Attractive, ornate bridges are scattered throughout the park and provide a real point of interest. There are also some pleasant wildflower areas along the margins of the brook itself. Please be careful when visiting during wetter weather – the site does flood considerably when rainfall is heavy. We would recommend dogs are kept on leads in Brooklands Meadow Park. …. This is probably the park in MK that we have visited the most. It has a sand pit area and wooden structure for children to climb up and then put the sand down the chutes. It resembles a smaller version of the sand and water pump area at Sywell Country Park – but there’s no water. There’s a small climbing frame which is good for toddlers and a larger climbing frame which has a wide bumpy slide. The tarmac floor is multi-coloured. There are animal shaped rockers as well as carved wooden animal sculptures. There’s a fun wobbly pirate ship and a baby swing. The park is beautiful in the summer and set amongst wild flowers. It’s easy to get to – the best postcode is MK10 7ER which takes you to Trafalgar Drive which is the road opposite the park. It is of course a residential area so please be considerate to people living there when parking. http://miltonkeyneskids.com/project/b…#
